In God's Country
Synopsis
In God's Country is a modern-day story centered on slavery, focusing on young women who are ignored by the police and shielded by "freedom of religion" within polygamous communities spread across North America. Judith Joseph is one such woman. Having been raised under the strict oversight of "God's Keepers" with no knowledge of any other life, Judith comes to the realization that she cannot allow her sixteen-year-old daughter to suffer the same fate she endured. In desperation and with no other resources or connections, Judith sets her house on fire and flees with her five children. Struggling and unprepared for the challenges of life "on the outside," Judith is determined to build a new life for herself and her children.
