Synopsis

This film chronicles the eight-year imprisonment of U.S. Navy Commander James Stockdale in North Vietnam. While held in prisoner-of-war camps, including the notorious "Hanoi Hilton," Stockdale, along with other senior officers, led a resistance effort against the North Vietnamese authorities, enduring torture, isolation, and starvation in an attempt to break their spirits. Meanwhile, in the United States, Stockdale's wife, Sybil, joined other wives of POWs in efforts to gather information about their missing husbands and to raise awareness about the conditions they were subjected to.
