In Secret
Synopsis
Set in 1860s Paris, the story follows Therese, a young woman trapped in a loveless marriage to the frail Camille, arranged by her domineering aunt, Madame Raquin. Therese spends her days working behind the counter of a small shop and her evenings watching Madame play dominos with a varied group of acquaintances. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she meets Laurent, an alluring friend of her husband, and begins an illicit affair with him, which ultimately leads to tragic consequences. The film is based on Emile Zola’s novel *Thérèse Raquin*.
