Synopsis
Inspired by Neil Simon's early career as a junior writer for *Your Show of Shows*, the play centers on Max Prince, a Sid Caesar/Jackie Gleason-like star of a weekly comedy-variety show in 1953, and his team. Simon's alter-ego, Lucas Brickman, serves as a running commentator on the writing process, the conflicts, and the chaotic antics that unfold in the writers' room.
