Synopsis
In 1933, Welsh journalist Gareth Jones travels to Ukraine, where he witnesses the devastating effects of a famine. Throughout his journey, he encounters agents of the Soviet secret service who seek to suppress news of the crisis. Stalin’s policy of forced collectivisation of agriculture has led to widespread suffering and destruction, a policy that has been described as equivalent to mass murder.
