Synopsis
At the Vienna State Opera on the Thursday before the Carnival, a grand ball is held, as is customary, drawing notable figures from politics and the media. The arrival of guests has just concluded, and the traditional Polonaise begins, followed by the waltz as part of the established custom: "Alles Walzer." The event is broadcast live to audiences around the world using 20 cameras. Television journalist Fraser (played by Heiner Lauterbach) observes the proceedings from the control room, while his son operates one of the cameras in the hall. Suddenly, chaos erupts: poison gas is released from concealed containers, causing hundreds of attendees to die in agony, with millions of viewers witnessing the horror unfold on their television screens.
