Synopsis

Julia becomes the advocate for Amir Ali, a young Iranian refugee detained in immigration custody. Amir claims to be an Iranian student who has been persecuted by his government, but the Department of Immigration questions the authenticity of his identity. When Julia meets him, he is deeply depressed and on the verge of deportation. She becomes intensely involved in his case, which causes tension in her marriage to Peter. Eventually, Julia succeeds in securing Amir's release, and he moves in with Peter and Julia. As she helps Amir adapt to life in their home, Julia grows increasingly drawn to the attractive, troubled young man. However, she also begins to notice inconsistencies in his story. Is Amir truly who he says he is, or does he conceal a more sinister and dangerous past?
