Synopsis
An itinerant race car driver stops briefly in a small Texas town, only to discover that his stock car, which was on a trailer behind his motor home, has been swiftly and skillfully stripped. He pursues the culprits, who turn out to be six orphan children. Unable to seek legal recourse, as the corrupt local sheriff benefits from their theft by taking a cut in exchange for not placing them in an orphanage, the driver is charmed by the children's personalities and mechanical skills. Displeased with their arrangement with the sheriff, the children stow away with him, and he gradually becomes a reluctant stepfather. Their enthusiasm and remarkable mechanical know-how help him gain recognition on the racing circuit. However, the sheriff takes offense at the loss of his income.
