Synopsis
After being denied a promotion at the university where she teaches, Dr. Lily Penleric, a talented musicologist, impulsively visits her sister, who runs a struggling school in rural Appalachia. There, she discovers a remarkable collection of ancient Scots-Irish ballads, passed down through generations and preserved due to the region's geographic isolation. Determined to secure her promotion, Lily travels into the most remote parts of the mountains to gather the songs, gradually becoming more captivated by the experience.
