The Devil Is a Woman

Synopsis
In a Spanish carnival at the beginning of the twentieth century, exiled republican Antonio Galvan arrives from Paris in disguise to enjoy the festivities and visit his friend Captain Don Pasqual “Pasqualito” Costelar. While there he flirts with the mysterious Concha Perez and arranges to meet her later. When Antonio meets Pasqualito, the captain reveals his strained relationship with the promiscuous Concha and her greedy mother, explaining that his life has been ruined by his obsession with the beautiful demimondaine. Pasqualito asks Antonio to promise not to see Concha. Despite this, Antonio encounters Concha again, she seduces him, and their involvement damages the long friendship between Antonio and Pasqualito.
