Orphaned teen Collin seeks a place to belong in 1940s Alabama, but must outwit his domineering aunt and her oppressive household before he can escape to the liberating refuge of a hidden treehouse.

Synopsis
Based on the novel by Truman Capote, this often-witty coming-of-age drama follows a young man growing up with an unconventional family in the Deep South during the 1940s. After becoming an orphan in 1935, Collin goes to live with his father's cousins, Verena and Dolly. Verena is a wealthy, domineering businesswoman, and Dolly, along with Collin and the family's maid, eventually rebel against her, moving to a treehouse.
