The Harder They Fall

Eddie Willis, a jobless sportswriter, is hired by corrupt fight promoter Nick Benko to promote his current protégé, an unknown Argentinian boxer named Toro Moreno. Despite Moreno's imposing physical presence, his lack of punching power and fragile chin hinder his potential for success. Benko takes advantage of Willis' respected reputation and standing in the boxing world to stage a series of fixed matches, which elevate the unassuming Moreno to the position of number one contender for the championship. The reigning champion, the sadistic Buddy Brannen, resents the attention Toro has received and vows to brutally retaliate against him in their upcoming bout. Eddie is now faced with the difficult decision of whether to reveal the truth to the unsuspecting Toro.
