Synopsis
*The Haunted History of Halloween* explores the origins and evolution of Halloween, a holiday marked each year on October 31st by costumes, makeup, and decorations. Host Harry Smith investigates the 3,000-year history of the festival, uncovering how it has evolved while remaining largely unchanged in its core traditions. The program also examines various attempts by religious groups to influence or co-opt the holiday. Offering a historical perspective on Halloween, the documentary highlights how the celebration has retained its identity over the centuries.
