Biography

Jamie Lee Curtis was born on November 22 1958 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis. She gained her first major role in 1978 as Laurie Strode in *Halloween* (1978). Subsequent film credits include *Trading Places* (1983), *Perfect* (1985) and *A Fish Called Wanda* (1988). In 1994 she appeared in the action film *True Lies*, for which she received a Golden Globe Award. Her television work includes an appearance on *Buck Rogers in the 25th Century* (1979) and the title role in *Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story* (1981). She co‑starred with Richard Lewis in the ABC sitcom *Anything But Love* (1989). In 1998 she returned as Laurie Strode in *Halloween H20: 20 Years Later*. Curtis served as honorary chairperson for the Building Resilience for Young Children Dealing with Trauma program at the Shakespeare Theatre – Harman Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C., and received an award from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman for her charitable work on behalf of children and children's books.
