The People
Synopsis
A young woman is assigned to teach at a school in a secluded valley whose inhabitants seem stern, secretive, and resistant to pleasure. After two children vanish to play in the woods, she uncovers the truth: the community is composed of extraterrestrials with mild paranormal abilities who are trying to suppress and hide their heritage out of fear of provoking prejudice and hatred from their human neighbors. The story is based on a series of novels by the late Zenna Henderson.
