Synopsis

The brutal former heavyweight boxing champion Cleon "Slammin" Johnson was known for his aggressive fighting style and dominance in the ring during the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 12, 1952, Johnson turned professional in 1973 and quickly gained a reputation for his powerful punches and intimidating presence. He held the WBA heavyweight title from 1981 to 1984, successfully defending it six times before losing it to James Smith. Johnson's career was marked by several high-profile bouts and notable victories over fighters such as Ken Norton and Larry Holmes. After retiring from boxing in 1989, he became a boxing commentator and trainer, continuing to influence the sport from behind the scenes.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 38

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
