Synopsis
This film portrays a psychological state akin to being moonstruck, with its images serving as emblems—though not quite symbols—of the suspension of self within consciousness, followed by the sensation of drifting away from conscious thought. The film can only be described as emblematic of this state because it seems impossible to symbolize or otherwise represent thoughtlessness itself. Thus, the actors in the film—Jane Brakhage, Tom and Gloria Bartek, William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Peter Olovsky, and Philip Whalen—are manifestations of this "Thought-Fallen Process," as are their images in the film, which depict them being photographed.
