Synopsis

Ruth Sherwood and her sister, Eileen, move to Greenwich Village in 1935. They encounter a variety of colorful local characters, including an unemployed football player known as the Wreck and Mr. Appopolous, a modern painter and their landlord. The sisters experience various adventures around New York. Ruth, who is pursuing a career as a writer, meets a sleazy newspaper writer named Chick and a kind-hearted editor named Bob, both of whom show interest in her work and in her personally.
