Yippie
Synopsis
The Youth International Party, commonly known as the Yippies, was a youth-oriented, countercultural group that opposed war and the prevailing norms of American society. The Yippies were known for using theatrical and humorous methods to promote social change, and several members became prominent figures in the Chicago 7 trial. The film primarily features footage from the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, an event that triggered large-scale protests met with violent and chaotic responses from law enforcement. The film also incorporates found newsreel footage and includes Pigasus, the pig the Yippies presented as a presidential candidate for the United States.
