Biography

Adrian Charles Edmondson is an English actor, comedian, musician, writer, and television presenter who rose to prominence during the alternative comedy boom of the early 1980s. He is best known for his long-standing comedic partnership with Rik Mayall, with whom he co-starred in the sitcoms *The Young Ones* (1982–1984), *Filthy Rich & Catflap* (1987), and *Bottom* (1991–1995), the latter of which he co-created and co-wrote. Edmondson and Mayall also appeared in *The Comic Strip Presents...* series, contributing to several of its episodes. In one, they formed the satirical heavy metal band Bad News, and in another, Edmondson portrayed his controversial character Eddie Monsoon, a fictional South African TV personality.
