Biography

Alan Alda is an American actor and filmmaker with a career spanning seven decades. He is best known for his role as Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce in the CBS sitcom *M*A*S*H*, which aired from 1972 to 1983. In addition to acting, Alda wrote and directed numerous episodes of the series. Throughout his career, he has received widespread recognition, including six Primetime Emmy Awards and six Golden Globe Awards. Alda has also been nominated for an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, three Tony Awards, and two BAFTA Awards.
