Biography

Alec Gillis is a co-founder of Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. (ADI), a visual effects company specializing in animatronics and prosthetic make-up. Established in 1988 with Tom Woodruff Jr., a Stan Winston alumni, ADI is based in Chatsworth, California. Gillis, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, contributed to the company's success through its notable work on films such as *Death Becomes Her*, which won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and *Starship Troopers*, which received an Academy Award nomination. ADI also provided practical creature effects for the *Alien* franchise beginning with *Alien 3*. Woodruff, who also portrays creatures in ADI's films, famously performed the role of the Alien.
