Biography

Alice Ghostley was an accomplished American actress and singer known for her work in stage, film, and television. She gained widespread recognition for her role as the bumbling witch Esmeralda on the sitcom *Bewitched* from 1969 to 1972. Ghostley also appeared as Cousin Alice on *Mayberry R.F.D.* from 1970 to 1971 and later as Bernice Clifton on *Designing Women* from 1986 to 1993, a role that further solidified her place in television history.
