Biography

Alyssa Diaz was born on September 7, 1985, in Northridge, California, United States. Of Colombian and Mexican-American descent, she attended Bishop Alemany High School. Diaz began her acting career at the start of the new millennium, appearing in episodes of various series, including "CSI: Miami," "The Brothers Garcia," and "American Family." In 2005, she was cast as Celia Ortega in the popular soap opera "As the World Turns," in which she appeared in over 56 episodes. She later had recurring roles, such as Mercedes Moretta in the television series "Southland," and guest-starred on shows including "The Unit," "Greek," "CSI: New York," "Three Rivers," "Lie to Me," and "Law & Order: Los Angeles." At the time of the biographical note, Diaz was working on the series "The Nine Lives of Chloe King," broadcast by ABC Family, in which she played Jasmine, the cousin of the protagonist Chloe King (played by Skyler Samuels), who discovers she is part of an ancient race called the Mai and possesses feline-like powers, including nine lives. Diaz also appeared in several short films and telefilms, and made her feature film debut in 2005 in the comedy "How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer," starring America Ferrera. More recently, she appeared in the horror film "Shark Night 3D" (2011), co-starring Sara Paxton and Dustin Milligan. Her most recent film work was in the action movie "Red Dawn," in which she co-starred alongside Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas, and Josh Hutcherson.
