Biography

Bill McKinney was an American character actor best known for his role as the sadistic mountain man who abuses and sodomizes Bobby Trippe (played by Ned Beatty) in the film *Deliverance*. McKinney also appeared in seven films starring Clint Eastwood, including the role of Union cavalry commander Captain "Redlegs" Terrill in *The Outlaw Josey Wales*. Many of McKinney's colleagues perceived him as big, brutal, and dangerous at first glance, despite his actual height of 5' 10" (1.78 m).
