Biography

Daniel Auteuil is a French actor and director known for his diverse film roles across genres such as period dramas, romantic comedies, and crime thrillers. He received the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996, shared with Pascal Duquenne for their performances in *The Eighth Day*. Auteuil has won two César Awards for Best Actor: one in 1987 for his role as Ugolin Soubeyran in *Jean de Florette* and *Manon des Sources*, and another for his performance in *Girl on the Bridge*. For his role in *Jean de Florette*, he also earned the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Auteuil is widely regarded as one of France's most respected actors.
