Biography

Diana Lynn began her career as a child prodigy and pianist at age 10. Her first film appearance was in *There's Magic in Music* (1941), under the name Dolly Loehr, a shortened version of her real name, Dolores. In 1942, she signed a long-term contract with Paramount and adopted the name Diana Lynn. She appeared in notable roles in *The Major and the Minor* (1942), *The Miracle of Morgan's Creek* (1943), and *Our Hearts Were Young and Gay* (1944). As she aged, she received fewer leading roles, though she appeared in *My Friend Irma* (1949) and *My Friend Irma Goes West* (1950), both based on the popular radio sitcom, as well as *Bedtime for Bonzo* (1951), and continued with a successful television career. She was first married from 1948 to 1954 to architect John C. Lindsay; the couple had no children. On December 6, 1956, she married Mortimer C. Hall, president of the Los Angeles radio station KLAC. His mother was Dorothy Schiff, then publisher of the *New York Post*. With Hall, she had four children between 1958 and 1964. The family moved to New York City so Hall could take a position at his mother's newspaper. Diana Lynn died on December 17, 1971, in Los Angeles, due to a stroke and brain hemorrhage.
