Dick Kallman

Dick Kallman was an actor who appeared in films and television during the late 1950s and 1960s. He later left Hollywood to pursue stage work, touring with productions of *How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying* and *Half a Sixpence*. An accomplished singer, Kallman recorded an album of standards for EMI in London in 1963, accompanied by orchestras conducted by John Barry and Ennio Morricone. In 1975, he formed a partnership to manufacture women's play clothes and party clothes, and also became a dealer in antiques, silver, and art. On February 22, 1980, Kallman and his business associate Steven Szladek of Brooklyn were found shot to death in Kallman's Manhattan apartment. Charles Lonnie Grosso of Queens, 27 at the time, was convicted of the murders, which occurred during a robbery, and received a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. The stolen items, including paintings, jewelry, and antiques, were never recovered.
