Biography

Frances Hardman Conroy is a retired American actress best known for her role as Ruth Fisher on the television series *Six Feet Under* (2001–2005), for which she won a Golden Globe and three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and received four Primetime Emmy nominations. She also gained recognition for her portrayal of the older version of Moira O'Hara in the first season of the anthology series *American Horror Story*, earning her a Saturn Award nomination and a Primetime Emmy nomination. Conroy went on to appear in six additional seasons of *American Horror Story*, playing characters such as The Angel of Death, Myrtle Snow, and Gloria Mott, among others. She is one of the actors with the most appearances in the series, alongside Denis O'Hare. For her role in *Coven*, she was nominated again for a Primetime Emmy.
