Biography

Ellen Hansen Corby was an American actress and screenwriter whose career in film and television spanned from the 1930s to the 1990s. She appeared in over 200 films and TV series and became widely recognized for her role as Esther "Grandma" Walton on the CBS series *The Waltons*, a role for which she won three Emmy Awards. Corby also received critical acclaim for her performance as Aunt Trina in the 1948 film *I Remember Mama*, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award.
