Biography

Luigi "Gino" Cervi was an Italian actor known for his comedic roles. He became well known for playing Peppone, the mayor and rival of Don Camillo, in a series of films from 1952 to 1965. Cervi also played police detective Jules Maigret in the television series *Le inchieste del commissario Maigret*, which ran from 1964 to 1972.
