Biography

Born to a Chinese diplomat and a German mother, she earned a degree in commerce and lived in Switzerland before a family friend, actor Mel Ferrer, inspired her to pursue acting. She moved to the United States and trained at the La Jolla Playhouse under Jeff Corey and Martin Landau. She delivered a convincing and authentic performance in her sole starring role in *Fall Girl* (1961), a minor film co-starring John Agar and featuring a bleak, somber storyline. Possibly too natural and uncontrived for major studios, which often favored more stylized portrayals of Asian actresses, she later portrayed the famed spy Mata Hari in *La reina del Chantecler* (1962). She also appeared in *Coffin from Hong Kong* (1964). Her television work included a guest role on *Bewitched* (1964), in which she played a cat transformed into a model named Ling Ling by Samantha. Her final film role was a supporting part in *Fathom* (1967), opposite Raquel Welch. She later worked as a narrator for documentaries before exiting the entertainment industry in the late 1970s. She remains notable for her status as an "exotic" starlet during the 1950s and 1960s.
