Biography

Hugh Bonneville is an English actor best known for his role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, in the ITV historical drama *Downton Abbey*, which aired from 2010 to 2015. His portrayal of the character earned him critical acclaim, including a Golden Globe nomination and two consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations, along with three Actor Awards. He later reprised the role in the *Downton Abbey* film adaptations released in 2019, 2022, and 2025. Among his other film roles are appearances in *Notting Hill* (1999), *Iris* (2001), *The Monuments Men* (2014), and the *Paddington* film series beginning in 2014.
