    Biography

    Jerry Siegel was an influential American comic book writer best known for co-creating Superman with his friend Joe Shuster. The character, published by DC Comics, became one of the most iconic superheroes in popular culture. Siegel and Shuster also developed other notable characters, including Doctor Occult and The Spectre, the latter co-created with Bernard Baily. Siegel contributed significantly to DC Comics' Legion of Super-Heroes, creating ten of its original members. Recognized for his contributions to the comic book industry, Siegel and Shuster were inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1993. Siegel also used pseudonyms such as Joe Carter and Jerry Ess during his career.
