Biography

Jessica Camacho was born in Chicago and first explored acting after taking a class at the suggestion of a friend. She quickly developed a passion for the craft and moved to San Francisco, where she worked as a waitress while attending night classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. She later pursued acting in theatre and television in Chicago, earning her Screen Actors Guild membership before relocating permanently to Los Angeles.

Camacho stars in CBS's legal drama "All Rise," which was written and executive produced by Canadian writer Spottiswood and directed by Mike Robin. The series explores the inner workings of a Los Angeles county court system, focusing on the personal and professional lives of its staff. Camacho plays Emily Lopez-Berarro, a determined public defender committed to proving her clients' innocence. The show premiered on CBS on September 23, 2019.

She also appears in Netflix's sci-fi drama "Another Life," which stars Katee Sackhoff and Selma Blair. Created by Aaron Martin, the series follows astronaut Niko Breckinridge as she searches for extraterrestrial life. Camacho portrays Michelle Vargas, the crew's direct and no-nonsense communications expert. The show was released internationally on Netflix on July 25, 2019. Camacho also has a recurring role in a secret capacity in HBO's superhero series "Watchmen," which stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, and Don Johnson. The show, written by Damon Lindelof, is based on the graphic novel and set in an alternate history where superheroes are outlaws.

Camacho was a series regular in the second season of NBC's action/thriller "Taken," playing the role of Santana, a sharp-witted and rule-breaking Army captain. She also appeared as Gypsy in the recurring role on "The Flash" for The CW, entering the DC Comics universe.

In film, Camacho has appeared in "Think Like a Man," "Veronica Mars," and "Roman J. Israel, Esq." opposite Denzel Washington. Her television credits also include regular roles on "Sleepy Hollow" for FOX and "Last Resort" for ABC, as well as appearances on "Casual," "Frequency," "Harley and the Davidsons," "Minority Report," "Longmire," "Rizzoli & Isles," "Stalker," "Bones," "Castle," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Hello Ladies," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Nikita," "Gossip Girl," "The Mentalist," "Dexter," and "Justified."

In addition to her acting career, Camacho is involved in charitable work, focusing on environmental protection, helping the underprivileged, supporting skill development programs, and advocating for abused and neglected animals. She has collaborated with various organizations in these areas and currently lives in Los Angeles with her dog, Jules.
