John James

John James Anderson is an American actor and producer known for his portrayal of Jeff Colby in the prime-time soap opera *Dynasty* and its spin-off *The Colbys* throughout the 1980s. A veteran of daytime soap operas, he first appeared in *Search for Tomorrow* in the late 1970s. In 1981, he was cast as Jeff Colby in *Dynasty*, appearing in the pilot episode, "Oil," and remaining with the series until its final episode, "Catch 22," in 1989. He reprised the role in *The Colbys* from 1985 to 1987 and again in the 1991 TV movie *Dynasty: The Reunion*.

James was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in *Dynasty* in 1985 and attended the 1986 ceremony. The Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film that year went to Edward James Olmos. In 2003–04, James returned to the soap opera genre as Rick Decker on *As the World Turns*. In May 2006, he was cast as Dr. Jeff Martin, the first husband of Erica Kane (played by Susan Lucci), on the ABC daytime soap *All My Children*, beginning his appearances the following month. He returned to *As the World Turns* in July 2008, reprising the role of Dr. Rick Decker.

In film, James has appeared in *Icebreaker* with Sean Astin, Bruce Campbell, and Stacy Keach; *The Cursed* (also known as *Peril*) with Morgan Fairchild and Michael Pare; *Lightning: Fire from the Sky* with Jesse Eisenberg, Stacy Keach, and John Schneider; and *Chronology* with William Baldwin and Danny Trejo. He also produced and starred in *Illegal Aliens*. All four films were directed by David Giancola. In 2012, James starred in Giancola’s documentary *Addicted to Fame* about the making of *Illegal Aliens*.

Currently, James is producing and starring in Giancola’s sci-fi action film *Axcellerator*, which reunites him with *The Colbys* co-star Maxwell Caulfield. His daughter, Laura, also appears in the film.
