Biography
John R. Cumpson was an American stage and film actor known for his work in the early 20th century. He made his Broadway debut in 1895 in *Bonnie Scotland*, playing the role of Tam Duncan Faa. He later returned to Broadway in 1901 in *Up York State*. Cumpson transitioned to film, appearing in at least 124 movies between 1905 and 1912, a significant output for the era. A 1910 newspaper noted him as "the famous Swedish dialect comedian," highlighting his comedic performances in a distinctive style.
