Biography
Karl Dönitz was a German naval officer and politician who became head of state of Nazi Germany following Adolf Hitler's suicide in April 1945. He led the country during the final weeks of World War II as part of the Flensburg Government until Germany's unconditional surrender to the Allies. Prior to this, Dönitz had served as Supreme Commander of the Navy since 1943, playing a central role in Germany's naval operations during the war.
