Biography

Leonard Simon Nimoy was an American actor and director, most recognized for his portrayal of Spock in the *Star Trek* franchise. He first appeared in the role on the original *Star Trek* series in 1966 and reprised the character in the first six *Star Trek* films, as well as in *Star Trek: The Animated Series*, *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, the 2009 *Star Trek* film, and its sequel *Star Trek Into Darkness*. Nimoy directed several films, including *Star Trek III: The Search for Spock* (1984) and *Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home* (1986), along with *Three Men and a Baby* (1987). In addition to his work in film and television, Nimoy was also a photographer, author, singer, and songwriter, with a career that extended across multiple creative disciplines.
