Biography

Marcia Dangerfield was born and raised in Indiana, the youngest of three children, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1970; her father's family originated in Shelby County while her mother grew up in Indianapolis. She moved to Utah in 1977, became a working mother of three, helped establish the Utah branch of the Screen Actors Guild in Salt Lake City, and during that period formed a productive relationship with writer‑producer Charles E. Sellier Jr., who first employed her in the business in 1979; she has also been credited as Marcia Reider and Marcia Yvette Reider. Leon Dudevoir served as her first mentor and James L. Conway was her first director, who disliked her walk. After several years in Los Angeles working primarily behind the camera, she returned to Utah where her film and theater performances gained new significance. She now resides in Bloomington, Indiana, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Culture at Indiana University, her alma mater; two of her sons have served in Iraq and returned. Since arriving in Bloomington in April 2001, her stage work in roles such as “Big Mama” and “Kate Keller” has been praised by NPR columnist George Walker and the local Herald Tribune. She is alive and well.
