Maree Cheatham

Maree Cheatham (born 2 June 1940) is an American actress known for her television work. For much of her career, she was credited as Marie Cheatham. She was a regular cast member of the daytime soap opera *Days of Our Lives*, where she originated the role of the youngest Horton daughter, Marie, later known as "Sister Marie." She also appeared on *General Hospital* as Lucy Coe's eccentric Aunt Charlene Simpson. Cheatham also played Stephanie Wilkins on *Search for Tomorrow*, a role she originated as the sharp-tongued and vampish arch-enemy of Joanne Gardner. She was later replaced in that role by Louise Shaffer.

Cheatham has made numerous guest appearances on television series including *Gunsmoke*, *Cagney and Lacey*, *Quantum Leap*, *Knots Landing*, *The Nanny*, *Dharma and Greg*, *Profiler*, *Judging Amy*, *Scrubs*, *The West Wing*, *Monk*, *Cold Case*, and *Desperate Housewives*. She has also appeared in films such as *Beetlejuice* (1988), in which she gained a cult following, *Rumor Has It…*, *Mr. & Mrs. Smith*, *America's Sweethearts*, and *The Wedding Singer*, where she made a notable cameo asking Billy Idol about the "mile high club."

Cheatham was married to Bill Arvin, with the marriage ending in divorce in 1974. She later married singer and songwriter Robert Staron (also known as Bobbo Staron) in 1998.
