Chip Baskets dreams of becoming a French clown, but his aspirations are constantly challenged by reality. Struggling with financial hardship and the difficulty of learning a new language, he returns to Bakersfield, hoping to start anew. There, he must come to terms with his past while working as a rodeo clown and vying with his siblings for his mother's approval and attention.
