Marie Avgeropoulos

Marie Avgeropoulos (/ævdʒɛrɔːˈpuːlɔːs/; born June 17, 1986) is a Canadian actress and model of Greek descent. She is best known for her breakout role as Valli Wooley in the 2009 film *I Love You, Beth Cooper*, directed by Chris Columbus. Following this, she appeared in several other film and television roles, including as Kirstie in *Cult*, as Kim Rhodes in *Hunt to Kill*, and as Octavia Blake in the sci-fi series *The 100*.

Avgeropoulos initially studied broadcast journalism for two years in her hometown before moving to Europe for several months. She later returned to Canada and settled in Vancouver. At age 16, she began playing drums, and a friend invited her to a casting call in Vancouver that was specifically seeking drummers. A talent agent noticed her and encouraged her to appear in a number of national commercials. This exposure led to her being noticed by director Chris Columbus, who cast her in *I Love You, Beth Cooper*, marking her first feature film role. Her performance in the film opened the door for additional film and television opportunities.

In 2010, Avgeropoulos was cast as Kim Rhodes in the film *Hunt to Kill*, which became a notable role in her career. Early in 2013, she made a breakthrough in television when she was cast in a recurring role on The CW's *Cult*. However, the series struggled with ratings and was canceled after its seventh episode. The remaining six episodes were later aired in the summer. Shortly after the show's cancellation, The CW cast Avgeropoulos as one of the lead characters in their new sci-fi series *The 100*, where she portrayed Octavia Blake.
