In the year 2123, Earth has been abandoned due to high levels of radioactivity, and the last surviving humans reside on an ark orbiting the planet. However, the ark is not a permanent solution. To determine whether Earth has become habitable again, a repressive regime selects 100 juvenile delinquents as expendable test subjects and sends them down to the planet's surface.

Spoiler-Safe Guide
medium confidencesource-verifiedComplete episode list confirmed: 100 episodes across 7 seasons. All ★★★ events were independently re-fetched this run. Four errors were found and corrected: (1) Monty's partner named as 'Hope' instead of 'Harper'; (2) Clarke's transcendence bar attributed to killing Bellamy instead of killing Cadogan during the test; (3) same causal error repeated in the S7E16 eventsIndex entry; (4) unconfirmable 'Clarke reunited with Lexa in the City of Light' claim in S3E16. Confidence set to 'medium' rather than 'high' because the S3E16 Lexa-in-City-of-Light claim required deletion (unconfirmable from Tier 1-3 sources this run), and several S6 episode-level tags remain ~ due to 403 errors on Fandom/Wikipedia episode articles. All remaining ★★★ events have ≥2 independent Tier 1-3 sources confirmed this session.

Characters
Clarke Griffin · debut [S1E01✓]
A medically trained delinquent who becomes the moral and strategic center of the survivors. She repeatedly makes devastating choices for the greater good — mercy-killing Finn, irradiating Mount Weather, sacrificing Bellamy — and carries the psychological cost. She is barred from transcendence in the finale and remains on Earth with her returning friends.
Bellamy Blake · debut [S1E01✓]
Begins as a self-interested antagonist who smuggled onto the dropship to protect his sister Octavia. Gradually becomes Clarke's co-leader and moral counterbalance. His Season 7 conversion to the Disciples' cause alienates many characters and fans; he is shot by Clarke in 7x13.
Octavia Blake · debut [S1E01✓]
Raised hidden under the floorboards of the Ark because a family was forbidden to have a second child. On Earth she finds identity and purpose among the Grounders, becoming the warrior Indra trains. In Season 5 she rules Wonkru with brutal authority as 'Blodreina'; by the finale she helps humanity pass the transcendence test.
Raven Reyes · debut [S1E05✓]
A brilliant mechanic and engineer who arrives on Earth searching for Finn. She is repeatedly pushed to the physical and mental limits — suffering a permanent leg injury, neural manipulation by ALIE — yet consistently proves to be the group's most resourceful member. In the finale she argues humanity's case before the Judge.
Lexa · debut [S2E06✓]
Commander of the Twelve Clans of Grounders. Pragmatic and feared, she forges an alliance with Clarke and develops a deep personal bond with her. Her death in 3x07 from a stray bullet — moments after a romantic scene with Clarke — sparked a major cultural conversation about the 'Bury Your Gays' trope.
Finn Collins · debut [S1E01✓]
An idealistic delinquent and early love interest for Clarke. He massacres 18 Grounder villagers while desperately searching for Clarke, a psychological break that defines his end. Clarke mercy-kills him in 2x08 to spare him from torture.
Jasper Jordan · debut [S1E01✓]
One of the original delinquents. His near-death by spear in the pilot sets an early dramatic tone. He never recovers emotionally from the Mount Weather events — particularly the death of Maya, a Mountain girl he loved — and becomes progressively more self-destructive.
Lincoln · debut [S1~]
A Grounder warrior who falls in love with Octavia. He is caught between his people and the Sky People, repeatedly betrayed by both sides. He sacrifices himself in 3x09 so others can escape.
Marcus Kane · debut [S1E01✓]
A stern Ark council member who begins as an antagonist — willing to cull citizens to maintain oxygen — but transforms into one of the show's moral voices. He advocates for peace with Grounders and becomes a father figure to several characters.
Abby Griffin · debut [S1E01✓]
Clarke's mother and the Ark's chief medical officer. She defies Chancellor Jaha to send her daughter's drop pod ahead of schedule, and carries that guilt and love throughout the series.
Madi Griffin · debut [S4E13✓]
A young Nightblood survivor whom Clarke finds after Praimfaya and raises as her daughter. Madi receives the Flame and becomes Commander in Season 5. Her safety is the central motivation for Clarke's most controversial act — shooting Bellamy.
