Biography

Mario Van Peebles is an American actor and director known for his work in film. He gained recognition for his portrayal of his real-life father, Melvin Van Peebles, in the 2003 biographical film *Baadasssss!*, which he also co-wrote, produced, and directed. Among his other acting roles are appearances in *Heartbreak Ridge* (1986) and *New Jack City* (1991). Van Peebles also directed *New Jack City* and *USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage* (2016). A prominent figure in Hollywood, he has contributed to both acting and directing, often drawing from his family's legacy in the film industry.
