Biography
Moustapha Akkad, a Syrian-American filmmaker, produced a series of "Halloween" movies, though he is best known for his deeply personal works *Lion of the Desert* (1980) and *The Message* (1976), both historical films about Islam. Despite reportedly facing challenges in gaining acceptance in Hollywood, Akkad was recognized for his talent as a director and producer. He and his daughter, Rima Al Akkad Monla, were killed in a bombing in Amman, Jordan, in 2005.
