Neill Barry

Neill was born to P.J. Barry and Dolores Du Bois on 29 November 1965 in New York, New York, USA. He made his screen debut at age 13 in the Martin Davidson comedy *Hero at Large* (1980), appearing with John Ritter and a young Kevin Bacon. He then appeared in the horror film *Amityville 3‑D* (1983), which included a brief part by Meg Ryan. After a major role in *Old Enough* (1984, Neill received his first top‑billing role as Joseph King Jr. in *Joey* (1986), playing a rebel character). He appeared in the Robert Altman comedy *O.C. and Stiggs* (1987) before taking darker roles in *Heat* (1986) with Burt Reynolds and *Fatal Beauty* (1987) alongside Whoopi Goldberg, a film that Roger Ebert described as “not a great movie, but it has good qualities.” His next film was the independent *Slipping Into Darkness* (1988), shot in Fremont, Nebraska. He then filmed an episode of the series *21 Jump Street* (1987) and portrayed Jill Ireland’s adopted son John in the telefilm *Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story* (1991). Neill later had a brief recurring role as Greg Parker on *Melrose Place* (1992) before returning to film with parts in *She’s So Lovely* (1997), the independent *Show & Tell* (1998), and co‑authored the story for *Friends & Lovers* (1999), which starred Stephen Baldwin, Claudia Schiffer and Robert Downey Jr. His older brother Matthew Barry works as an actor and casting director, and his sister Nina Barry is an actress and casting associate. To date, his films have grossed an estimated US $90 million.
