Paris Hilton is an American media personality, socialite, and businesswoman known for her prominent presence in New York City's social scene in the late 1990s. Born in New York City, she is the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels. She gained early attention through fashion modeling and was named "New York's leading It Girl" in 2001. Her rise to global fame came with the reality television series *The Simple Life* (2003–2007), co-starring her friend Nicole Richie, and a leaked 2003 sex tape with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, later released as *1 Night in Paris* (2004).
