Biography

Peter Graves was an American actor best known for his role as Jim Phelps in the television series *Mission: Impossible*, which he portrayed from 1967 to 1973 and again in its revival from 1988 to 1990. He also appeared in the *Airplane!* comedy film series, playing Captain Clarence Oveur in both *Airplane!* (1980) and its sequel *Airplane II: The Sequel* (1982). Graves was the elder brother of actor James Arness.
