Biography
John Richard Basehart was an American actor known for his deep, resonant baritone voice and distinctive appearance. Active in film, theatre, and television from 1947 to 1983, he gained critical acclaim for his performances in a variety of roles. He won two National Board of Review Awards, one for his role in *Fourteen Hours* (1951) and another for *Moby Dick* (1956). Basehart also received a BAFTA Award nomination for his work in *Time Limit* (1957).
